SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 42

Deem, Boley, Wooton and Tomblin, Mr. President)
Recognizing the contribution of Edith Doss-Marcum to West Virginia
for her composition of the song "The 35th Star".

Whereas, Edith Doss-Marcum of Grey Eagle, Mingo County, has
contributed to West Virginia's musical history by writing the
lyrics and music to the "The 35th Star", a song depicting our
state's birth, beauty and its number as a star on the flag of the
United States; and

Whereas, Edith Doss-Marcum performs her rendition of "The 35th
Star" with a great passion for her beloved State of West Virginia;
therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate hereby recognizes the contribution of Edith
Doss-Marcum to West Virginia for her composition of the song "The
35th Star"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Senate extends its sincere
appreciation to Edith Doss-Marcum for her personal performance in
its chamber of her rendition of the song "The 35th Star"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to Edith Doss-Marcum.
